The story

The Broken English Films production “Dream Sequence” delves into the confusion in our everyday lives and which truths lurk behind our misconceptions.
Production title: “Dream Sequence”
Writer/Director/Producer: Bola Omodara
Genre: Science fiction
Format: Short film anthology
Synopsis: “Dream Sequence” is an anthology built around a single, deceptively simple question: “What is reality?” Each instalment approaches it from a different angle — memory, perception, technology, the stories we tell ourselves to make sense of time passing — without ever settling on one answer. The films share a tone more than a plot: a low hum of unease underneath conversations that seem, at first, completely mundane.
Part one, “Crystal’s Ball,” opens with Diedre and Crystal catching up after the pandemic kept them apart for longer than either expected. It plays, initially, like any reunion between old friends — the small talk, the catching-up, the comfortable rhythm of two people who know each other well. But as the conversation goes on, the gaps between what Diedre remembers and what Crystal describes start to widen in ways neither of them can explain. By the time the film ends, it’s no longer clear which of them has the more accurate version of the years they spent apart, or whether “accurate” is even the right way to think about it.
Logline: Two old friends reunite after years apart only to discover their memories of the time between no longer agree with each other.
Tagline: Reality is just the version of events we agreed to remember.
