The story

Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the film “Forwards (Hacia Adelante)” is about María José Muskant. A woman whose relationship and life has bored her to the point of exhaustion, creating an overwhelming desire to abruptly leave everything.

Synopsis: María José’s life oscillates daily in a manner she detests. Its monotony and lives she’s intertwined with have mounted to a point where she’s no longer functional, unable to ignore the nagging reminder that this life isn’t the one she wants.

Routines keep recycling, but events spur María José to be reminded that the timing will never be perfect. If she wishes to make a change, it doesn’t require planning, solely action. Irrespective of the risks of the damage her leaving could cause.

However, as with most significant life changes, the mental toll of committing the act of change is far greater than in the body. Our minds govern us, and hers wrestles with the, “What ifs?”

Logline: A woman for whom life has become demoralizingly routine decides to break its rhythm.
